Swim Meets FAQ
ALL ABOUT SWIM MEETS
BEFORE THE MEET STARTS
- Arrive wearing your team shirt and swimsuit.
-
Arrival time:
- Home meets: 4:00 PM
- Away meets: 4:30 PM
- Check in with the coaches upon arrival.
- Help your swimmer find the group tents. Swimmers 10 & under should also check in with parent volunteer at tent.
- If you're scheduled for a volunteer shift, check in Volunteer Manager.
- Ensure your swimmer has their events marked on their arm with a Sharpie.
- If not done at morning practice, FIND A COACH to get your swimmer’s events.
- Format: E/H/L/S = Event #, Heat #, Lane #, Stroke
- All 10 & under swimmers must have their last name written on their upper back, right shoulder blade.
- Listen for the warm-up announcement from the coaches. After warm-up, swimmers should return to their group tents and remain there until their event is called.
- Meets start at 5:30 PM.
DURING THE MEET
- Swimmers go to the bullpen about 5 events before their race. Check with a coach or group parent for specific instructions.
- There are usually 2–3 heats per event.
- After swimming, your child should return to the age group area, dry off, and store goggles and swim cap with their bag (to prevent them from getting lost).
- Swimmers may visit their parents during the meet, but must notify the group parent before leaving the tent.
- Once your swimmer has completed all of their events, you may leave with permission from HEAD COACH John or Mindy —unless you're scheduled for meet clean-up.
- Meets usually end around 9:15 PM, though timing may vary based on the size of the opposing team.
- Do NOT leave the meet early without speaking directly to HEAD COACH, John or Mindy.
